At any point in our lives we may find ourselves feeling low, depressed or anxious. This may be something that has been going on for some time, perhaps over many years, or it may be brought on by an event. It can help to share these feelings with a trained therapist.
Psychotherapy offers a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to talk, think and be.
The underlying focus in psychodynamic psychotherapy is on better understanding ourselves. While the reason for coming to therapy might be troubling feelings, a difficult situation or traumatic events, during therapy the scope of work opens up to include the past; this can help us to reflect upon what is happening in the present. This way of thinking about the origins of our patterns of thinking and feeling is where psychodynamic psychotherapy differs from other types of therapy. Making these connections can lead to a better understanding of ourselves, which in turn can open the door to a more fulfilling life.
Psychotherapy can be useful when dealing with many different things, including:
I offer two types of psychodynamic psychotherapy:
- Open ended psychotherapy
- Time limited psychotherapy
